In Maharashtra, real estate sector is regularized by The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) which was established by government. Main objective of this act and rules is to facilitate transparent, competitive and well managed effective real estate sector that provides safeguard to interest of sellers, buyers and real estate agents. What is mean by Real Estate Agent?

Real estate agents acts like a link between real estate/ property buyer and seller. Real estate agent act as mediator between buyer and seller of property and connect them to execute transactions. Agent help buyers initially from searching of  property till closing the deal of real estate.

Real estate agents are licensed brokers with professional knowledge and experience who has specialized license by government authority. Real estate agents are important element of real estate sector. According to, The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act,2016 every real estate agent is required to be registered with MahaRERA before providing any service related to sale or purchase of real estate. Requirement of Training and Certification for Real estate agent:

According to recent notification of  MahaRERA, now all channel partners and property agents are mandatorily required to take exam and obtain certificate from authority before facilitating any service. As effect of this notification/ guideline issued on  10th January,2023- “With effect from May 1, 2023, only those real estate agents who have a valid MahaRERA Real Estate agent traning certificate of competency can apply for MahaRERA real estate agent registration/renewal of registration.”

Who Can Apply for Real Estate Rera Agent Training:

This mandatory training requirement is applicable to below mentioned persons-

In case of Individuals:- All individual real estate agents

In case of firms / companies /organizations :– Authorized signatory who is authorized for making application for MahaRERA real estate agent registration)

All employees / staff / officers by whatever designation called working in firms / companies/  orgarrizations of real estate agents, who interact with homebuyers / allottees for effecting transactions in real estate projects

AII real estate agents registered with MahaRERA.

Mode of RERA Agent Training

To make it simple and user friendly, government has introduced training in various modes . Training modes available by empaneled training providers are as follows-

i) Online

ii)Offline

iii) Hybrid (Online + Offline)

Duration of RERA Agent Training 

The newly introduced RERA Agent Training programme should consist of minimum 20 Hours.

What is Fees for Rera Agent Training :

Maximum training fees charged by training providers is Rs. 5,000/- (excluding GST).

What is Exam Fees for RERA Agent Training

Maximum exam fees charged for registration of RERA agent training examination is Rs. 1,500/- (excluding GST).

Real Estate Rera Agent Examination

According to guidelines, atleast 60% attendance is mandatory for completion of programme and registering for RERA Agent Training exam. Once you successfully complete your programme training with required attendance, training provider will share details of candidates with MahaRERA and conduct final examination for RERA agent training.

Candidate is allowed to appear for exam only when he has completed training programme. Three attempts are given to every candidate to clear exam . If candidate is not able to clear exam in 3 attempts, candidate is required to again attend training programme fully.

To maintain reliability and consistancy in training course, MahaRERA has entered into MoU with IBPS. Therefore, IBPS is now responsible for conducting online examination accross the state. Examination  shall be held in both English and Marathi medium. Examination will be held in multiple choice question type and include approx 50 questions (2 marks each) with 4 alternatives each amounting to 100 marks in total.

If candidate pass examination successfully, candidate shall be provided with Certification of Competency having unique certification number on it.

FAQ : Rera Agent Traning

1.Do I need real estate agent training certification to Apply for RERA Registration ?

With effect from May 01, 2023, only those real estate agents who have a valid MahaRERA Real Estate Agent Certificate of Competency (of training programme) can apply for  MahaRERA real estate agent registration/renewal of registration.

2.What is Passing Criteria for Real estate training Exam ?

Examination consist of 100 marks- 50 MCQ questions of 2 marks each. And passing crieteris is-   -candidate must secure minimum 40 marks for passing examination.

3. Can I do real estate agent training Course online ?

 Yes, training course is available in 3 modes- online, offline and hybrid.

4.I Received rera certificate before 31-03-23 Do I still need to Clear Exam ?

Yes,  all existing real estate agents shall obtain “Real Estate agent Completion of Certificte”  before  1st August 2023. Hence, it is required to clear exam even if your received certificate before- 31/03/2023.

5. What is duration of training for real estate agent ?

Duration of training programme shall be minimum20 Hours as per applicable guidelines.
