OSP DOT Registration Process
OSP/DOT Registration mandatory as per the New Telecom Policy (NTP) 1999, service providers in India business which are in providing services like tele-banking, telemedicine, tele-education, tele-trading, e-commerce, call centre, network operation centre and other IT Enabled Services, using telecom resources are termed as “Other Service Providers” (OSP). These Other Service Providers or OSP’s are required to obtain a OSP Registration from the Department of Telecommunication (DOT). Hence call center companies need to follow legal provision of licensing of DOT OSP Registration.
OSP DOT Registration Process is complete online process. Only Private Limited Company / Public Limited Company / Limited Liability Partnership can apply for OSP DOT Registration. Department of Telecommunication issued notification for step wise OSP DOT Registration Process.
Applicability of OSP Registration
- BPO & KPO in domestic or/and International Processes
- All telemarketers
- All domestic BPOs and KPOs
- All international BPOs and KPOs located in India
- All telemarketers
Types of OSP Registration
Call Center do business operation for there clients which are located with in India & Out side India. Hence There are two type of OSP Registration one is Domestic & International DOT license.
- Domestic: An Other Service Provider that provides application services within the national boundaries
- International: An Other Service Provider that provides application service beyond the boundaries of the nation.
Conditions For Applying OSP Registration
Following are mandatory condition for applying OSP DOT Registration. On Failure in meeting any of below points department will raise a query on application.
- Company or Limited Liability Partnership Firm Can only apply
- OSP Shall take services of Telecom from Registered Vendors only
- Submit network diagram to Department of Telecommunication
- Take Internet services from Registered ISP
- Provide declaration as per legal provisions

All the documents must be certified with seal by either Company Secretary or one of the Directors of the Company or Statutory Auditors or Public Notary.

The Board of Directors considered the proposal for OSP Registration ( Domestic ) for the Company to carry on the activities related international calling to make an application to Department of Telecommunication. In this regard the following resolution was passed:
“RESOLVED THAT the Company shall request the Officer (Other Service Providers OSP ) Term Cell for OSP registration.
“FURTHER RESOLVED THAT __________________ is hereby authorized to sign and make applications to Department of Telecommunication on behalf of the Company and to do all acts and deed necessary to complete the registration process and to represent the Company.

What are Compliances After OSP DOT Registration ?
- Submit Annul Returns at Department of Telecommunication at end of financial year
- Inform change in OSP License to Department
- Maintain compliance with the Terms and Conditions prescribed by the Department of Telecommunication
- No PSTN connectivity shall be permitted to the International OSP at the Indian end. PSTN connectivity on the foreign end is permitted, having facility of both inbound and outbound calls
What is Validity & Government fees of OSP Registration ?
- 20 Years is the validity of OSP Registration from date of registration
- Government fees of Rs. 1000/- shall be applicable for OSP Registration

Following licenses required in Call center Business
- Company Registration or LLP Registration
- Provident Fund Registration
- ESIC Registration
- GST Registration

Conclusion
OSP DOT Registration Process is online for Domestic & International. Registration takes 2-3 weeks time. After registration company need to file Annual OSP Return and apply for OSP amendment as needed.

Does OSP Registration required network diagram ?
For Both Domestic & International OSP Registration , ISP certified Network diagram is needed. Use color copy of network diagram.
Do we need to apply for Renewal of OSP / DOT license each year , Pl guide ?
Hello ,
OSP/DOT license issued is valid for 20 years , hence no need for renewal. However if there is any changes such as address change etc. same need to be informed to term cell in 30 days.
No.IF there is no change in business , network diagram etc. Then no need to amendment in DOT OSP Registration.

Yes. You need to file Annual return with DOT department in June month
Yes. OSP Registration holder need to file each year annual return with department. This return have information of sales turnover & profit.
